Upcoming Courses & Visiting the RAA (Royal Academy of Arts)
March 16, 2014
What a weekend!
Spent some time in the studio yesterday discussing, with a qualified early education advisor, the content of the up coming children's workshops. We believe child experience is very important the having a qualified advisor review the plans is very important to ensuring children have a rich and varied experience at our workshops.
We want to make sure to excite, interest, and stimulate every participant!! What a great session & I can't wait to get stuck into the coming workshops.
This weekend also included a little break, because we went to the Royal Academy of Art's family workshop. We got double workshops today! The sculpting workshop was based on the work by the Renaissance Impressionists, which is currently on display at the RAA, and there was also a print-making workshop.
The sculpting workshop included twisting an animal form from loooong straws, wrapping in wool, then decorating. There were some amazing creations, including our very own elephant!
The print workshop was brilliant too - we made our own stamps from simple materials (readily available), then were given card paper in order to create a couple of lovely cards. I think we will run the stamp making workshop for our junior school Picazzo People!
If you do get the chance, pop by the monthly RAA family workshops - they are free and a lot of fun. The staff are all very friendly and willing to help. The really encourage the kids and are very generous with their time.
